What’s this program all about?
SUEEC, as we like to call it, is a teaching methodology-based training program specifically for Secondary English Teachers in Gyeonggi Province, South Korea. We encourage all middle and high school English subject teachers to register for this program in order to enhance their knowledge of teaching tips and techniques and attain cool, free lesson ideas and concepts.
We’ve got five different modules coming at you this November, which you can read about below.

Pop Culture in the English Classroom
Instructor: Autumn Wright
Teens these days spend their days immersed in pop culture, and it’s therefore a super powerful tool to bring into the language learning classroom! In this module, we’ll go over why and how to bring different of elements of pop culture into the English classroom. We’ll mostly focus on practical writing activities you can do with your students that are both fun and engaging. This module is all about meeting students at their own level with their own interests – and how doing so makes the teacher’s job easier, as well.

Critical Media Literacy in the Global Classroom
Instructor: Betsey Norman
Via Youtube, Facebook, Instagram, and other social media sites, we are constantly surronded with information. How do you know what is fact and opinion? How do you know what is true or false? The answers to these questions along with how to teach critical thinking and media literacy to EFL students will be dealt in this module.

Creative Writing and Writing Assessment
Instructor: Chris Sanders
Many teachers are familiar with teaching the five paragraph essay. They need to cover introduction, body, conclusion, topic sentences and so on. Instead of teaching this academic style of writing, trainees will learn about various ways to teach creative writing and discuss how to assess these types of assignments.

Opinion Expression in Products, Media and Services
Instructor: Eric Flynn
Expressing opinions is an important facet of social interaction in any culture. It is especially important in English-speaking countries, where a large amount of focus in placed on the individual’s thoughts regarding pop culture, products, services, and more. A simple glance at YouTube will reveal just how much time is dedicated to expression of one’s opinions on everything from video games to fast food. This module is intended to equip teachers with all the tools needed to make their students adept at expressing their opinions in speaking, writing, and online.

Eco Education in English Class
Instructor: Kristina Kauss
In most Korean textbooks, there is a section that deals with the environment. Even though each textbook might deal with subject of the environment in a different way, teachers can have a set of activities, assignments, projects and forms of assessment that they can use. This module will offer ideas on the various methods that a teacher utilize when teaching about the environment.
